I had hosted a pumpkin carving party at home last year and it was lot of fun for kids and adults alike. We had the kids dress up in their costumes, had some games for the kids and some story time. The adults did the pumpkin carving. We decorated our house according to the theme and the end product looked great. The web has loads of inspiration for arts and crafts, I usually use Google images, see if i like something and something that the kids can make, and then pick accordingly make modifications if necessary.
